Eco-chic - trends - Organic Odyssey - Brief Article
Vegetarian Times, June, 2003 by Akasha Richmond
In January, I had the pleasure of attending Organic Odyssey (www.organicworksmarketing.com) in Los Angeles. This two-day event kicked off with Eco-Chic, a private fashion event hosted by "Just Shoot Me" star Wendie Malick. Ten of LA's hottest designers showcased one-of-a-kind looks using all organic and eco-fibers created especially for the evening.
The next day, show attendees visited the McKinley House in Venice, designed by environmental architect David Hertz, founder and president of Syndesis Inc. (www.syndesisinc.com), an architectural design and manufacturing firm specializing in sustainable strategies and environmental products. The kitchen countertops in the McKinley House were made from Hertz's Syndecrete, a surface material made from recycled products. Here, experts demonstrated cooking and beauty techniques and provided valuable information on holistic pet care.
