My idea of a great Mother's Day gift is a California getaway: a stop at Earthbound Farm's Farm Stand in Carmel, a day at the Artichoke Festival and dinner at San Francisco's Millennium. When it comes to organic vegetables of any kind, Earthbound's Mark Marino (www.ebfarm.com, 800.690.3200) is the man.
He grows tomatoes--including vine ripe, red and gold pear, as well as heirloom varieties. Earthbound's Farm Stand (831.625.6219)--a mini farmers' market--is open daily from April through October. "Growing organic produce is a labor of love, and that's what makes my job so much fun" says Mark. No wonder Earthbound's taste so good.
