We asked, you answered - letters - Letter to the Editor

Vegetarian Times, August, 2003

In the May 2003 VT, we asked you to tell us about the most unusual place you're found a copy of VT. Here are our favorite responses.

It had been a long day at the Family Practice, and the last patient was just leaving as I began cleaning up and restocking exam rooms for the next day. As I was finishing the last room, I noticed something sticking out of the drawer that holds the exam gowns, so I opened the drawer and discovered a copy of VT. On the cover was a sticky note that read: "To my favorite nurse, enjoy." That began my journey into vegetarianism and making the decision to go back to school.

Today I have a master's degree in natural nutrition and have used my knowledge in this area to help many of my patients. At work, my position was upgraded from staff nurse to nurse/nutritionist, which happily brought an increase in my salary as well as in job satisfaction.

As a VT subscriber for about 7 years now, I can tell you I save every issue--and they pop up everywhere! But, just last night, I was watching a rerun of Friends, after just having read your request in the magazine--and my goodness, if on the show Phoebe wasn't holding in her hands an issue of VT as she stood at the newsstand. I just had to tell you!

Your magazine is the best, and it is both wonderful and exciting to have your headquarters in my hometown. I'd love to help out with the magazine in any way I can.

Keep up the great work!
