Trouble ahead - scoop - high fat diet in teenage girls seen to increase risk of breast cancer later on - Brief Article

Vegetarian Times, August, 2003

Teenage girls who have high-fat diets also have an increased risk of breast cancer later in life, a study by the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia has found. High-fat diets seem to increase blood levels of estrogen and progesterone, hormones often linked to breast cancer, according to the study, published in the January 15, 2003 Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Fortunately, even a small reduction of daily fat intake--about 6 percent--is enough to reduce those risks significantly.
