Foreign fare frustrates

Vegetarian Times,  April, 2004  by Christine Vincent

My husband is an officer in the USAF, and we are stationed in Montgomery, Alabama. There are no Chinese groceries, Mexican groceries, Indian groceries or any sort of groceries aside from Food World and Winn-Dixie here. Ingredients like Japanese edamame, while plentiful in New York or San Francisco, are not available here. I imagine that other Midwestern and Southern people not in major cities are finding the same problem.

While many of our readers take the extra steps to make our more exotic recipes, we recognize that shopping at specialty stores or markets simply isn't practical for most of our readers. We now ask our recipe developers to use ingredients that are readily available in the supermarkets where the average American shops. Please let us know if you continue to have problems with our recipes.
