A good year?

Vegetarian Times, July-August, 2004

Scientists from the University of Barcelona have determined that the wine with which Tutankhamen was laid to rest was made from red grapes, though The New York Times reports no evidence about "whether it had a buttery overlay or hints of ripe plums." After examining the residue from ancient jars found in King Tut's Egyptian tomb (and at four other sites), the Spanish scientists published their findings in the March 15, 2004 issue of Analytical Chemistry, a journal of the American Chemical Society.

Although red wine is now known to have healthful properties, they don't seem to have helped the Boy King who died, after all at 19. The wine, if available today, might be highly coveted, having aged 3,300 years.
