Q: how do I mail homemade cookies to kids in college without making a mess?

Vegetarian Times,  Sept, 2005

A: Brownies, bar cookies and soft drop cookies, like macaroons, travel the best. To get them there in one piece, place the cookies back to back in pairs (divided by wax paper), then wrap each pair in plastic. Pack these snugly in a cookie tin lined with foil. Put the tin in a cardboard box, with crumpled newspaper stuffed underneath and around it so it can't jiggle in transit.

Tape the box shut, and write "Fragile, Handle with Care" or "Perishable" in big letters. Avoid sending food packages at the end of the week, because they might get stuck at the post office over the weekend.
