Call of the wild

Amy Spitalnick

A ringing cell phone that sounds the cry of the Mexican gray wolf or the warble of the beluga whale is almost guaranteed to start a conversation on the plight of these and other threatened species. That's the idea behind the Center for Biological Diversity's offering endangered species ring tones, downloadable for free at rareearthtones.org. The voices of these creatures also stirs in us--even cramped in an office cubicle--a primal delight in the natural world.
