Bodywork: TLC or therapy? - Natural Remedies - includes related article on the different types of massage

Vegetarian Times, April, 1997 by Randi Hutter Epstein

Trager uses touch and movement to restore and redistribute tension held in the body, which can (and often does) lead to back, neck and shoulder pain and loss of mobility. Developed by Milton Trager, M.D., half a century ago, the Trager approach uses gentle, shaking and rocking motions to release tension and overcome rigidity and restricted motion.

Trigger point is pressure applied directly to specific locations where muscles are irritated or that radiate pain. Although similar to shiatsu and acupressure, trigger point is based on a Western understanding of anatomy.
