Think E - Lifelines - vitamin E for health - Brief Article

Vibrant Life, July-August, 2002

Postmenopausal women can fight back against heart disease by boosting their intake of vitamin E-rich foods. Researchers studying 34,000 women found that those who consumed high levels of vitamin E from food had about half the risk of dying from coronary heart disease compared to women with low levels of the vitamin in their diets. The same study showed vitamin E supplements were not observed to show a similar effect. Vitamin E-rich foods include wheat germ, nuts (especially almonds and filberts), avocados, sunflower seeds, vegetable oils, whole grains, and leafy green vegetables.
