What's in a name? - Lifelines - antioxidants - Brief Article

A frequently used nutritional buzzword these days is "antioxidants." Studies on antioxidants indicate that they have a role in preventing heart disease, certain cancers, complications from diabetes and cataracts. However, in two surveys of more than 2,000 people conducted in the United States during 1995, 56 percent of those questioned said they had heard of antioxidants, but 82 percent of those respondents could not name a single example. For the record, antioxidants include beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E.
