Max Lebow, MD, MPH, MBA, FACEP, is chair of the board of directors for Lumetra, a California-based, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and integrity of health care. Lebow, an emergency physician and medical director of emergency services at Centinela Hospital Medical Center, Ingelwood, Calif. serves as board chair for the 2003-2004 term. Lebow received his Doctor of Medicine from the West Virginia School of Medicine in 1979 and is board certified in emergency medicine and preventive/occupational medicine and is an active member of numerous professional societies and associations at the local and national levels. He began his association with Lumetra more than 10 years ago as a physician reviewer and was first elected to the CMRI Board in 1998. A longtime advocate of improved health care in the underserved community, Lebow has a special interest in the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) program, that assures that all patients who present to the nation's emergency departments receive the care they need.
