Mike H. Summerer

Mike. H. Summerer, MD, MS, CPE, is the new chief medical officer of Hallmark Health System in Boston. He oversees the medical staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. His main focus is to ensure the high quality of medical care provided throughout the Hallmark Health organization. He will monitor the standards of medical practice and patient outcomes at both hospitals. Summerer most recently served as senior vice president and chief medical officer of St. Vincent's Health Services in Bridgeport, Conn. While at St. Vincent's, he was responsible for the clinical direction of the system. He initiated a number of physician support functions, led improvements for medical staff planning and recruitment and enhanced relations with the medical staff. Summerer also started a physician leadership program and successfully developed key physician leaders. He led all quality and patient relations initiatives, as well as a number of key clinical services. Previously, Summerer served as vice president and chief medical officer at Bronson Healthcare Group in Kalamazoo, Mich. While there, he helped establish an interventional cardiology service and, for a time, was the only interventional cardiologist in that institution.
