Stephen P. Combs, MD, CPE, FAAP, FACFE, is system senior vice president for medical affairs at Wellmont Health System in Tennessee. Wellmont is a 1,450-bed system with 250,000 emergency department visits and 55,000 admissions each year. Combs is board certified in pediatric medicine and forensic medicine. Previously, he held the position of vice president for medical affairs at Holston Valley Medical Center, a member of the Wellmont system, Combs also has responsibilities for Wellmont Physician Services, the physician arm of Wellmont which includes 156 providers with 54 offices in three states and is the chief academic officer for the system. He's involved in all aspects of medical student education and residency training, Combs earned his undergraduate degree at East Tennessee State University and graduate degree at Duke University where he was chief of pediatric residents.
