What are ACPE Diplomates & Fellows? - Quick Question - description of American College of Physician Executives' Diplomates and Fellows - Brief Article

Physician Executive, Nov-Dec, 2002

Diplomate

A Diplomate is a member of ACPE who has been board certified as a Physician Executive (CPE) by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management.

Fellowship

A Fellow of ACPE is a diplomate of ACPE who has held membership for at least 2 years and has demonstrated that his or her knowledge and experience has acquired regional or national stature. To become a Fellow you must complete a fellowship application containing three letters of recommendation and documentation of contribution to the field of medical management and participation in ACPE activities.

Distinguished Fellow

A Distinguished Fellow is an ACPE Fellow who has demonstrated noteworthy and enduring contributions to the knowledge and advancement of medical management. Because this is the highest recognition ACPE can bestow, members cannot apply but must be nominated by their peers (Fellows and Distinguished Fellows). Nominations are reviewed and awards are made by the Board of Directors of ACPE.

For information on applying for Fellowship or becoming a Certified Physician Executive, e-mail staff at acpe@acpe.org or call 800/562-8088.
