"Over the past few years, many accomplished women physician executives have risen to senior leadership positions within their organizations. The advancement of women physician executives is not without barriers, however. Through this ACPE network, women physician executives can discuss the barriers to advancement and identify strategies and practices for addressing and overcoming the barriers."

To date over 80 members have joined the network, introduced themselves, shared information and welcomed the opportunity to talk to each other online.

In an effort to build a valuable resource for women medical executives, Sherry advised the group that "the world probably doesn't need another compendium listing all the things women are perceived as doing wrong in the business world; conversely, a set of "best practices" would be of greatest benefit to the advancement of women physician executives."
