Best way to boost alertness

Shape,  August, 2004

> If you're facing an extra-long workday or a late-night study session, don't tank up on coffee early in the day, new research suggests. The study, which was conducted at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, found that consuming small doses of caffeine frequently, beginning halfway through the workday, translated to greater alertness, better mental performance and a decreased likelihood of dozing off.--S.C.
