Downsized snacks
Shape, August, 2004
Soft-drink manufacturers such as Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola, as well as certain snack makers, are beginning to shrink some of their single-serving products' packages and containers--good news for those of us who can't stop until we finish the whole thing. Naturally, there may be a catch: For example, the labels on the mini frozen treats in the chart below consider two pieces, not one, a serving--and if you eat two, you could take in more fat and calories than the original version contained! So, as with a snack of any size, you still need to exercise self-control. That said, here's how the new mini snacks compare with the originals.
