Go ahead and blend yourself a fresh strawberry daiquiri tonight. Ethanol, the type of alcohol found in rum, vodka, and other liquors, makes the antioxidants in strawberries and blackberries more potent, finds a new study from researchers in Thailand and the United States. But don't use this information as an all-you-can-drink pass: Many of the oversize umbrella drinks that restaurants and bars serve are made with sugary mixes and contain more than 500 calories apiece.

Make your own with fresh fruit and a splash of liquor.
