Feeling skisick? - Think Healthy
Shape, March, 2003 by Julie Walsh
As many as 5 percent of skiers and snowboarders experience a condition that feels like seasickness research at the University of Berne in Switzerland found. This is thought to be caused by conflicting sensory stimuli as skiers move back and forth in slalom motion while going downhill. Drinking alcohol, going too fast and not wearing adequately protective eyewear can exacerbate the effect, making you want to head to your chalet instead of the chairlift.
Motion-sickness drugs can usually help.
