The battle continues - Readers Write

Inside MS, Spring, 2002 by Marcie E. Goldbloom

As an attorney who specializes in representing people trying to obtain Social Security disability benefits a member of the Government Relations Committee of the Chicago-Greater Illinois Chapter of the National MS Society), I hope to assure your readership that most attorneys in this field have a far greater understanding of MS than Ms. Ambler's did.

For the last five years, the Chicago-Greater Illinois Chapter has organized an annual "Law Day" where people can have free one-on-one appointments with attorneys in various areas, including Social Security disability, and the feedback has been very positive. We would never tell an individual like Ms. Ambler to dress down for the hearing. We would encourage her to tell it like it is.
