Popular medication also causes hearing loss - erythromycin

Nutrition Health Review, Wntr, 1991

Santander, Spain: Erythromycin can cause hearing loss, a group of Spanish research physicians warns. The manufacturer of the product does note that the drug might slow corneal healing and cause blurred vision, but references to hearing impairment seem to be rare.

Erythromycin is prescribed to combat bacterial organisms in eye infections. The doctors, working at the Marquis University Hospital in Spain, are careful to mention that their experiences are based on results in a hospital setting where intravenous administration consists of higher doses than usual.
