Promotion Whizzes Celebrated at PMA/Brandweek Event

Brandweek, April 24, 2000 by Terry Lefton

McCann-Erickson's Momentum took home the spoils at the recent Promotion Marketing Association conference at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The agency captured the Super Reggie, two gold Reggies for its work on the launch of the American Express Blue card, one for its work with A&E's Horatio Hornblower and a bronze for work with Motorola. Agency chief Mark Dowley was overheard jokingly firing the winner for "only" garnering a bronze.

Presentations saw the likes of Visa and McDonald's preaching the gospel of global branding, even while reminding the audience about the increasing imperative for grass-roots marketing. "We're a sophisticated enough business by now that creativity is what's separating good efforts from bad," said DC Comics promo chief Joel Ehrlich. "That wasn't always the case."
