Holiday Inn Goes Online with Discount Room Rates

Brandweek, Nov 16, 1998

ATLANTA-Holiday Inn is spending $400,000 to Promote Holideals, an online program touting discount fares to last-minute travelers. Holideals displays, by location, rooms with rates reduced at least 40% from regular prices. Eventually, consumers will be able to reserve rooms via the Internet. Radio spots in 16 markets broke to announce the service and will be followed by direct mail and Internet ads on travel sites such as MapQuest, Preview Travel, Travelocity, and Yahoo! Travel.

HI's Base Hotels & Resorts subsidiary is working with Delta Airlines to coordinate a Web site tie-in between Holideals and Delta's last minute fares. Holiday Inn hopes to do the same with its other partners: American, Air Canada Continental, Hertz Northwest and united.
