Disney Reorganizes Buena Vista, Hyperion Publishing

NEW YORK--Walt Disney is reorganizing its publishing business. U.S. publishing subsidiary Buena Vista Publishing Group expands to become Disney publishing Worldwide and continues as part of the consumer products division. Hyperion, the adult book publishing division of Walt Disney, becomes a unit of ABC, which also includes Fairchild magazines.

Steven Murphy was promoted from svp-Buena Vista to svp/managing dir-Disney Publishing Worldwide. Robert Miller, vp/group publisher-Buena Vista, was promoted to svp/managing dir-Hyperion. Murphy will now oversee all domestic and international publishing within the consumer products division, along with the Disney Children's Book Group, visual and reference books, licensed publishing and magazines Discover, Familyfun, Disney Adventures and Disney Magazine.
