Before that next difficult quiz session or heavy workout, try dabbing pulse points with a York Peppermint Patty According to a study by a professor at Wheeling Jesuit University Wheeling, W.Va., peppermint was consistently found to have a positive effect on subjects' mental condition during exercise and performance.

When the odor was present, participants felt they accomplished more in their workouts, and felt more energetic and invigorated during and after exercising. They reported feeling less frustration and fatigue than when exposed to other scents and felt their performances were better and required less effort. The study was sponsored by the Olfactory Research Fund and presented at that group's April 5 seminar.
