Roto-Rooter Goes Old School, Seeks Jingle Writer

Brandweek, Jan 8, 2001

CINCINNATI--Plumbing giant Roto-Rooter kicks off a marketing program this month focusing on its 48-year-old jingle: "Roto-Rooter that's the name and away go troubles down the drain." As part of a $5 million spend this year, two 15-sec. TV spots, labeled "Drips" and "Bubbles' run on cable networks an average of 83 times perweek for 20 weeks.

The firm spent about $4 million last year. The "Roto-Rooter Jingle Jam" will break this month asking consumers to write an extra verse for a chance to win a free trip to the 2002 Grammy Awards. The company is also looking for a jingle expert to do a national radio media tour. Freedman, Gibson and White, Cinncinati, is the agency.
