TELEFONICA CENTROAMERICA GUATEMALA plans to invest $400 million and create about 3,000 jobs over the next three years in Guatemala. The company, formed last May, just started offering long-distance telephone service and cellular telephone service. The company plans to sell fixed-line telephone service and Internet access for businesses.
Spain's Telefonica owns 51%; the remaining 49% is owned by Grupo Mesoamerica Telecom, an investment company owned by major Central American businesses.
