Palm M100

Price: $149 list
* The Good
Palm's m100 does everything advertised and does it painlessly. Famously easy Palm set-up. And if you're already using the most popular mail and contact software, this handy little companion can keep you on top of your data while out of the office. Great if you want to throw out your bulky paper agenda and get into the handheld world on the cheap (compare to big-league devices at $300 to $500).
* The Bad
No e-mail interface (yet). Low, although acceptable, memory. Still pricey for what you get. The model name, m100, should mean "maybe 100, "as in, maybe I'll buy it for $100, but not $149. Have patience. It's already reportedly selling in Asia for $120.
* Who Should Buy
Students, first-time buyers, mobile sales people, the techno-phobic.
* Who Should Not
Download junkies, e-mail fanatics, sales and management people looking for connectivity on the run.
