NEC America Introduces New Full-Featured Digital Document Processor - NEFAX IT3500 multifunction printer - Product Announcement

NEC America, Inc. , Corporate Networks Group introduces the new full-featured NEFAX IT3500 digital document processor. Incorporating digital copier, facsimile and printer functions, the new system offers satellite offices and corporate workgroups a comprehensive multifunction document processing center in a single solution. Ideal space critical applications, the NEFAX IT3500 is a cost effective solution that allows users to print, reproduce, finish and distribute documents all from one comprehensive time saving system.

The NEFAX IT3500 copier function digitally reproduces documents at an outstanding rate of 35 pages per minute. The system offers 600x600 dpi resolution with Micro-Toning technology that interpolates to 1,500 dpi for extra sharp image quality. This quality allows for photo, text and photo/text scanning modes of high-contrast processing and sharper text imaging.

Working as a facsimile, the NEFAX IT3500 provides 8-megabytes of standard facsimile memory for high volume use, Quick Memory transmission to speed productivity, 500-location auto dial to accommodate more contacts and double- sided original transmission to save time.

With the addition of a printer module (available 4Q 99), the NEFAX IT3500 can also be used as a network printer supporting most popular network protocols, including 100BaseT. It can hook into a LAN or WAN using PCL 6 and PCL5e or PostScript II, offering an entire office the advantages and functionality of the NEFAX IT3500 from desktops throughout the network.

Additionally, the NEFAX IT3500 broadens distribution options by offering walk-up email transmission. This allows the user to simply load the document, dial the destination email address and directly send the email.

Other Standard Copier Features:

-- An automatic image rotation function rotates images to fit currently loaded paper without having to manually adjust the original

* Distribution numbering to distinguish between distribution copies

* Edge adjustment for copying without cutting off important information

* Image repeat for copying images multiple times on a single page.

* Page insertion for overhead copying with interleaving which automatically inserts pages between each transparency produced.

The NEFAX IT3500 comes standard with a fully integrated graphic interface touch screen for ease of use, 16 MB of memory, upgradeable to 64 MB, one 275- sheet multipurpose paper cassette, one 550-sheet fixed universal cassette, a by-pass feed tray and 500-sheet output tray.

Upgrades to the NEFAX IT3500 start with dual communications ports offering two V.34 modems to supply 33.6Kbps lines with JBIG coding, in effect, doubling the unit's facsimile communications applications for time-sensitive and network based tasks and environments. Also available are three additional 275- sheet letter or 550-sheet fixed universal paper cassettes as well as a 2,750 sheet large capacity cassette. A full line of document finishing features are also available including stapling, hole punching, watermarks, page insertion separation to separate documents outputted, duplex printing and document covers.
