Cambridge Telcom Report, August 30, 1999
DSLnetworks, a national provider of end-to-end Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connectivity solutions, Monday announced that it has achieved nationwide coverage for its DSL service offerings and is currently accepting orders in 30 major markets. This expanded coverage represents a 100 percent increase in the number of major markets DSLnetworks serves and marks the largest area of DSL availability offered by any single Internet Service Provider (ISP), Inter Exchange Carrier (IXC), Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) or Regional Bell Operating Company (RBOC).
As a result of DSLnetworks' aggressive deployment, the company now offers enterprises and ISPs the most complete national DSL coverage and the largest choice of DSL service speeds from a single provider.

The expansion into 30 of the top U.S. markets enables DSLnetworks to offer multi-regional enterprises a single source for a managed end-to-end DSL connectivity solution. The expansion also doubles the number of regions DSLnetworks ISP Partners can offer retail DSL services.
"The first thing large enterprises and service providers seeking a national DSL solution want to see is coverage," said president and CEO of DSLnetworks Brad Connors. "Now, DSLnetworks not only provides a reliable, high performance DSL network built from the ground up to support DSL, but we also offer customers the industry's broadest footprint for DSL services. By combining these features with service from a single source, we've created a compelling outsourcing solution for enterprises and ISPs."
DSLnetworks aggregates the services of multiple CLECs and RBOCs enabling the company to offer DSL services virtually anywhere DSL has been deployed in telco central offices (COs). The aggregate of services from multiple telcos also enables the company to offer a combined total of 18 different DSL service speeds. DSLnetworks has agreements with telco carriers that include Covad Communications, NorthPoint Communications, Network Access Solution, Rhythms NetConnections, SBC-Pacific Bell and others. DSLnetworks connects DSL traffic from telco central offices to strategically located Internet Data Centers across the United States where the traffic is routed to the Internet or a company's local area network (LAN).
Market Coverage DSLnetworks' expanded coverage area encompasses the following major U.S. markets:
San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Phoenix, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Austin, Detroit, Minneapolis, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, Raleigh, Charlotte, Richmond, Wilmington and Atlanta.
Pricing and Services DSLnetworks offers service options at speeds from 128 Kbps to 4 Mbps upstream and 128 Kbps to 7 Mbps downstream. Prices for DSLnetworks' business-class services start under $99 for a 128/384 Kbps asymmetrical DSL connection (ADSL), $409 for a symmetrical 1.1 Mbps DSL (SDSL) connection and $1479 for a 4/7 Mbps ADSL connection. Prices and availability vary depending on which telco is used for the local loop and the distance of the end user from the CO.
In addition to DSL connectivity, DSLnetworks offers Virtual Private Networking (VPN), enterprise email, security solutions, dedicated web hosting and other value added services. DSLnetworks plans to announce availability in 10 additional major markets by the end of 1999.
