Call-Net Enterprises Inc. announced Tuesday the appointment of Maggs Barrett as President of Call-Net Technology Services Inc. In this role, Ms. Barrett will be responsible for the development and management of Call-Net's worldwide network technology assets.
With more than 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry, Ms. Barrett has held senior executive positions for several Canadian telecommunications companies, including Executive Vice President & COO for ACC Telenterprises, Vice President of Operations Planning and Services for Bell Sygma, and Director of Operations Development (Engineering and Research) for Bell Canada.

"We're very pleased to have Maggs join Call-Net's senior management team," said Juri Koor, Chairman, President and CEO. "Her extensive experience and solid expertise in telecommunications, particularly in network management, will play a critical role in driving our Company's network technology strategy."
Call-Net's North American high capacity fibre optic network totals 26,100 route kilometres, the Canadian portion of the network spanning 14,600 route kilometres, from Montreal to Vancouver. Its state-of-the-art network carries
not only its own substantial long distance voice traffic but also growing data and Internet traffic. The Company is in the process of installing and commissioning sophisticated switching equipment in Canada's major cities to support its targeted entry in the promising Local Services market segment.
"Steady technological growth and diversification have played a key role in transforming our Company into a facilities-based carrier," concluded Mr. Koor. "We are confident that we can more easily reconcile, in the future, demand for an ever-growing range of products with the optimization of our technological assets, thus achieving higher profitability."
