PEERNET Inc. Tuesday announced an agreement in which it will provide AT&T Easylink Services of New Jersey, USA with core technology for its Internet-based Web to Fax Service. AT&T Web to Fax Service is a high volume fax management service that distributes documents to fax machines and e-mail addresses through a single Internet connection.
Under the agreement, AT&T will purchase the non-exclusive rights to the PEERNET.DRV Doc-to-Fax Driver. The driver converts Microsoft Windows documents into multipage TIFF Class F images, the digital image type that is supported by fax machines. The driver will be distributed with related components from other software vendors to AT&T's Web to Fax Service subscribers.

The PEERNET.DRV Doc-to-Fax Driver supports fax resolutions of 200x200 (fine) and 200x100 (standard); portrait and landscape page orientations; and multiple standardized paper sizes, including Letter, Legal, and A4. The software runs on Windows 95/98 and NT4.0, and automatically translates itself into the language of the host system during installation. AT&T was particularly interested in the driver's auto-translation capabilities, since its Service is offered worldwide in five languages.
