Cambridge Telcom Report, August 30, 1999

PEERNET Inc. Tuesday announced an agreement in which it will provide AT&T Easylink Services of New Jersey, USA with core technology for its Internet-based Web to Fax Service. AT&T Web to Fax Service is a high volume fax management service that distributes documents to fax machines and e-mail addresses through a single Internet connection.

Under the agreement, AT&T will purchase the non-exclusive rights to the PEERNET.DRV Doc-to-Fax Driver. The driver converts Microsoft Windows documents into multipage TIFF Class F images, the digital image type that is supported by fax machines. The driver will be distributed with related components from other software vendors to AT&T's Web to Fax Service subscribers.

"We're very pleased to be associated with a global organization like AT&T at such an important juncture in our growth," said PEERNET President and CEO Robert Massart. "Our agreement today represents a confirmation of PEERNET's vision of paperless workflow processes through Internet technology. We look forward to expanding our vision by applying what we have learned from this development project."

The PEERNET.DRV Doc-to-Fax Driver supports fax resolutions of 200x200 (fine) and 200x100 (standard); portrait and landscape page orientations; and multiple standardized paper sizes, including Letter, Legal, and A4. The software runs on Windows 95/98 and NT4.0, and automatically translates itself into the language of the host system during installation. AT&T was particularly interested in the driver's auto-translation capabilities, since its Service is offered worldwide in five languages.
