Westell Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSTL) announced Tuesday that it has teamed with Potomac Networks, to offer ADSL services to customers in the Washington, D.C. area.
Westell, Inc's Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Business Unit is providing its WireSpeed DSL modems for use in Potomac Networks' broadband offering to customers in Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Westell's WireSpeed modems share an existing phone line to provide reliable, high-speed, Internet connections. WireSpeed modems are "plug and play," and offer users and providers simple, cost-effective DSL access.

Potomac Networks is supplementing its existing dial-up access with three DSL packages, offering speeds up to 125 times faster than 56K modems. Customers can chose between 640Kbps, 1.6 Mbps or 7.1 Mbps downstream rates and, as part of its introductory offer, Potomac Networks is providing the WireSpeed modems at no charge to Potomac Networks ISP users. With DSL technologies, users can establish an "always on" or permanent connection and use the line for voice as well as high-speed data.
