Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedWireless: DATA RACE Announces Wireless Innovation With Integrated Voice and Data - Company Business and Marketing
Cambridge Telcom Report, June 21, 1999
DATA RACE announced Wednesday that the unique technology which has made it possible for DATA RACE to provide the industry's only complete solution, offering both business quality phone and simultaneous data over a single analog dialup line, is now compatible with wireless connections, as well. The Company has invented a method of transport that permits the business quality voice to be delivered simultaneously with data, with very low bandwidth requirements. This makes it possible for the first time to contemplate portable devices that let you take your complete office with you, using today's wireless data services, as well as tomorrow's. The Company believes that with the right wireless partner, such products could enjoy short time to market.

With today's Be There! system, remote workers can simultaneously make and receive phone calls, e-mails, and faxes, as well as browse the Internet and intranet -- all over a single analog phone line. With DATA RACE's patented Telepresence, calls placed to the remote worker's office telephone number ring immediately at the PC. Thus, Be There! users appear to be in the office, wherever they may be working. With this unique voice and data technology, remote workers are as productive and accessible from home, a hotel room, airport lounge, or customer location as in the corporate office.
DATA RACE is now actively seeking wireless equipment and service providers with whom to partner to bring this technology to the consumer. "Due to the recent radical changes in cost, in many companies, the cell phone is getting as much use as the office phone," explained Kenneth Witt, DATA RACE's VP, Marketing. "In the ideal world, workers would have only one number, that reaches the office, the cell phone, or the PC phone, immediately, without the caller having to wait endlessly or trying a second or third number. And employees would be able to work anywhere, as productively as in the office, with identical e-mail, Internet, corporate intranet applications, and telephone access, just as if in the office. DATA RACE has the technology to make the ideal world a reality today. We want to take the FlexPlace concept to its fullest realization -- truly empowering everyone to work anytime, anywhere, just as productively and accessibly as in the office."
DATA RACE, Inc. (www.datarace.com) designs, manufactures, and markets a line of communications products for remote access to the corporate environment. Its unique client/server product, the Be There! remote access system, gives teleworkers access to all elements of corporate communications networks. Through Be There!, teleworkers reach the corporate intranet, LAN and the Internet while sending and receiving e-mail, faxes and phone calls simultaneously over a single phone line. DATA RACE also designs and manufactures advanced communications subsystems for makers of notebook computers and network multiplexers that carry data, LAN, voice and fax traffic among a company's multiple offices.
