Executive Suite: Long Distance International Inc. To Restructure U.S. Operations. Company to Focus on European Operations - Company Operations

Long Distance International Inc. (LDI), announced Friday that the Company will restructure its U.S. operations and focus its efforts on its successful, rapidly growing European retail operations.

The Company said it will discontinue its retail business in the United States and reduce its U.S. workforce and facilities devoted to its retail business. LDI has not yet determined the charge to income as a result of the restructuring.

LDI will concentrate its efforts on its European retail operations which provide telecommunications services to small- to medium-sized ("SME") businesses in nine countries. The Company will also continue to support its worldwide wholesale operations.

Commenting on the restructuring, David R. Hess, Chief Executive Officer of LDI, said, "In restructuring the LDI organization, the Company is committed to enhancing its shareholder, bondholder and prospective shareholders' value in our company. Over the past year, we have experienced solid growth in our European operations and are proud to state that we now have more than 15,000 customers located in nine countries. Our European business units, on a historical basis, have shown strong growth in revenues."

Long Distance International Inc. is a multinational telecommunications company, providing long distance telecommunications services in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The Company offers primarily domestic and international long distance calling service with a host of enchanced services that are appropriate for the particular market. The Company primarily targets small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers through both direct and indirect channels.
