Users of BellSouth Desktop Fax get their own fax number that is never busy and allows them to receive their faxes privately as e-mail attachments via the Internet. These documents can then be printed, filed or forwarded electronically, and at a higher quality than a traditional fax. Outgoing capabilities of BellSouth Desktop Fax include fax broadcasting, customizable coversheets and the ability to send multiple documents in one fax from different applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
"BellSouth Desktop Fax is another method for small businesses to utilize technology to work smarter," said David Abrahamson, Vice President of Marketing, BellSouth Small Business Services. "With features that include the ability to receive faxes remotely and send broadcast faxes, small business owners will not have to waste time standing by a fax machine," he continued.
BellSouth Desktop Fax gives users more flexibility than a stand-alone machine with mail merge capability, online, real-time fax status, email delivery notification and connection options through a LAN or dial-up connection. Additional options include available toll-free fax numbers and the ability to re-direct a fax to any machine.
All that is required to use BellSouth Desktop Fax is a PC with Windows 95/98/NT, a connection to the Internet and standard e-mail capabilities. Users simply download the BellSouth Desktop Fax Software from the web site and can begin receiving faxes immediately. Basic inbound fax-to email is free and additional outbound options and other features are reasonably priced and can be billed to a credit card or on a monthly bill.
BellSouth Small Business Services collaborated with FaxNet Corporation to provide their small business customers with this suite of enhanced fax products. Founded in 1995, FaxNet is based in Boston and is a leading network-based enhanced fax services provider.
BellSouth (NYSE:BLS) is a $25 billion communications services company, providing communications, wireless communications, cable and wireless TV, directory advertising and publishing, and Internet and data services to 36 million customers in 19 countries worldwide.
