NorthPoint Appoints Industry Veterans to Lead Network Engineering/Operations And Consumer Marketing Strategies - Bao Le, VP Operations and Engineering; Judy Levine, General Manager, Consumer Marketing - Company Operations

NorthPoint Communications, a leading provider of DSL-based high-speed Internet access, Monday announced the appointment of two new members to its senior management team. Bao Le, vice president of operations and engineering and Judy Levine, general manager of consumer marketing, bring a wealth of industry experience to one of the nation's fastest-growing communications companies.

Bao Le, Vice President, Operations & Engineering Bao Le brings two decades of telecommunications experience in product development, network development and implementation to NorthPoint. Prior to joining NorthPoint, Le served as vice president of network and technology at Bell Canada. During his tenure, Le led the deployment of digital subscriber line (DSL) services and implemented the first national broadband network in the Canadian telecommunications industry. Previously, as senior director of new business development at Jones InterCable, Le implemented the launch of a facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC).

In his role at NorthPoint, Le will lead NorthPoint's networking initiatives, focusing on expanding network capacity and coverage to meet the ever-growing demand for NorthPoint DSL. Le is also responsible for NorthPoint's customer service and support operations as well as the development and delivery of NorthPoint IDSL service. He will also lead the deployment of new technology designed to enhance NorthPoint's service portfolio for its' partners and their customers across the network.

Judy Levine, General Manager, Consumer Marketing Judy Levine brings more than 13 years of marketing experience to NorthPoint, most recently as executive director of local service marketing at MCI WorldCom. During a decade of service with MCI, Levine played an instrumental role in introducing six break-through products to the telecommunications market, from operator services and collect calling to MCI's innovative "Friends and Family" program.

Levine is responsible for enhancing and developing NorthPoint's portfolio of broadband services for consumers, telecommuters and small businesses. Levine will also oversee marketing initiatives associated with NorthPoint strategic partners, including Tandy, which has selected NorthPoint as its preferred DSL supplier, and Microsoft. In addition to these responsibilities, Levine will develop programs to better educate the consumer market on the benefits and advanced communications applications made possible by DSL-based broadband services.

NorthPoint Communications, based in San Francisco, is a national, facilities-based competitive local exchange carrier dedicated to providing affordable, dedicated high-speed Internet access over existing phone lines using digital subscriber line (DSL) technology. The company operates DSL-based local networks in 28 major markets, representing 51 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs).
