Cambridge Telcom Report, Sept 13, 1999

Nortel Networks Wednesday announced that it has entered into an agreement with Telia whereby it has been selected by Telia as a supplier of the company's national network which is to provide ATM and Frame Relay services. Nortel Networks will supply Passport 15000 Multi service switches as well as professional and technical services. The Passport 15000 is a key component of Nortel Networks' optical Internet solution.

"This is a natural development of our existing ATM and Frame Relay network, of which Nortel Networks is already one of our main suppliers," said Jan Morten Ruud, Head of Datacom Division, Telia Network Services.

"This agreement further strengthens Nortel Networks position at the heart of the Internet revolution in Europe, and as an industry-leading supplier of carrier-class multi-service networks. Just recently, Dataquest's European WAN Report 1998 highlighted the fact that Nortel Networks is leading both the ATM and Frame Relay switch markets." said Matt Desch, president, Service Provider Solutions, Nortel Networks.

Telia's ATM and Frame Relay network will be based on Nortel Networks' leading Passport 15000 Multi service switch. The Passport 15000 delivers the scalability, reliability, and versatility Service Providers need to meet the explosive demand for service such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Frame Relay. The Passport 15000 is now generally available globally.
