Advanced Fibre Communications Announces Management Changes - Company Operations

Advanced Fibre Communications, Inc. (AFC) has announced a number of management changes. Jorge Valdes has been named Vice President of Engineering. Peter Darbee, AFC's Chief Financial Officer, has elected to leave AFC in order to assume the CFO position in a multi-billion dollar company outside the telecommunications industry. Karen Godfrey, AFC's Vice President and Corporate Controller, has been named acting CFO. Ms. Godfrey has been with the company over six years, and has held the position of Corporate Controller since 1994. A search to replace Mr. Darbee has been initiated; the Company is considering both internal and external candidates.

"As I've said in the past, our management team continues to evolve, and these changes should be viewed in that light," said John Schofield, AFC's President and Chief Executive Officer. "Peter Darbee has made significant contributions to AFC over his two-year tenure here. We wish him success in his new position."
