TD Waterhouse to Enable Web Trading Using New Nokia 7100 Series Media Phones - Company Business and Marketing

Cambridge Telcom Report, Sept 27, 1999

TD Waterhouse Group, Inc., a leading online financial services firm and the world's second largest discount broker, and Nokia, the leading mobile phone supplier, Thursday announced they have signed an agreement to develop a specialized wireless trading platform that will allow TD Waterhouse customers to place webBroker trades over the Internet using Nokia's new 7100 Series media phones. The application is expected to be available next year.

The new Nokia 7100 Series media phones are based on Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), which enables secure access and instant interaction with Internet/intranet information and other advanced telephony services.

Nokia will provide TD Waterhouse with their wireless expertise for development of the specialized TD Waterhouse trading platform. TD Waterhouse and Nokia are expected to co-market the new TD Waterhouse webBroker access.

"Mobile web trading is the most exciting advancement in Internet technology, and we're proud to be the first online brokerage firm to partner with Nokia to make this available to our customers," said Richard J. Rzasa, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of TD Waterhouse Group, Inc. "We're continually looking for new ways to make it easier for our customers to get account information and place trades quickly. This wireless trading platform will allow access to webBroker any time, no matter where our customers are, without needing access to a computer."

TD Waterhouse customers can expect the new customized wireless online trading platform to be similar in content to that of feature-rich webBroker, including the ability to trade stocks, options, mutual funds and closed-end funds. They will also have access to account information, real-time news and real-time individual and personalized quote lists.

In addition to serving over 1.9 million customer accounts in the United States, TD Waterhouse serves customers in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. The firm also has plans to expand into Japan and continental Europe.

TD Waterhouse, a subsidiary of TD Waterhouse Group Inc., the world's second largest online brokerage operation, provides investors with a broad range of brokerage, mutual fund, banking and other consumer financial products on an integrated basis. TD Waterhouse can be found on the Internet at http://www.waterhouse.com and on America Online at AOL Keyword: TD Waterhouse.
