RangeStar Introduces First GPS with Dual Band Embedded Antenna Solution for Cellular/PCS Handsets that Incorporate GPS Location Capabilities - the Ultima and Performa series of embedded antennas - Product Announcement

Cambridge Telcom Report, Sept 27, 1999

RangeStar International Wednesday unveiled a cost-effective new solution that allows wireless carriers to meet the FCC's CC Docket Number 94-102 which mandates for E911 location requirements.

Designed to exceed today's wireless handset size and performance requirements, RangeStar's new dual band with global positioning system (GPS) embedded antenna operates at 800 MHz and 1900 MHz cellular and 1575 MHz GPS frequencies. The antenna provides both cell band and PCS frequency operation from a single feedpoint, with the addition of a separate feedpoint for GPS.

"This unique solution offers a breakthrough in embedded antenna technology by offering designers alternatives to today's separate GPS antennas and whip antennas," said David McCartney, RangeStar's Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The antenna features a gain of 0/ 1 dBi on the respective cell band and PCS frequency bands. And with the effective cost vs. performance, the GPS solution offers an integrated solution that today enables us to meet tomorrow's requirement for GPS location ability.

RangeStar now offers two families of embedded antennas, the Ultima and the Performa series. The Ultima is a series of super-small multi-layer antennas designed to mount onto boards as if they were components. The Performa series includes single and dual band embeddable antennas for the Cellular/PCS (800/1900 MHz & 900/1800 MHz), Wireless LAN (WLAN), and Cordless Telephone (900 MHz/2.4 GHz) markets. The company is committed to developing embedded antenna components that offer small size, affordability and unparalleled performance.

Third-party manufacturers interested in GPS, or other Performa antennas should contact RangeStar directly.

RangeStar International is a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of high quality, high performance embedded antennas and after-market antennas for the wireless communications markets. Founded in 1995, the company has assembled the industry's premier talent and is recognized for its technical innovation and consistently superior products. FMI: www.rangestar.com.
