Teleglobe Launches Unique Corporate Calling Card Solution for Businesses Worldwide - Teleglobe Communications - Company Business and Marketing

Teleglobe Communications Corporation has unveiled a new global calling card solution for corporations worldwide, enabling businesses to offer cost-effective, reliable communications to their employees traveling on business at home or overseas.

The card enables employees to place calls from over 90 countries to over 240 countries worldwide, and is the industry's first to introduce number portability, permitting users to transfer their current calling card number and PIN (Personal Identification Number) to the Teleglobe card.

"As companies expand their operations worldwide, they need reliable communication services that overcome the barriers of language and in-country operational issues. The Teleglobe Corporate Calling card is a convenient and efficient solution for business travelers to stay connected," said Andrew Burroughs, vice president, global marketing and product management, Teleglobe Communications Corporation. "A big plus is the option of allowing employees to transfer their card number and PIN from their existing calling card, which greatly improves ease-of-use. After all, who wants yet another phone number and PIN to memorize?"

According to a recent Frost and Sullivan report, the business market for international calling card services was US$5.65 billion in 1997 and $6.17 billion in 1998. Revenues are projected to reach $9.38 billion by the year 2001. In 1997, the business segment comprised 19.9% of the total international calling card market.

By the year 2004, it is expected to reach 28.5%, a current annual growth rate of 13.2%.

The many user-friendly features of Teleglobe's corporate calling card program include coin-free operation from virtually any telephone in over 90 countries, automated dialing instructions in 26 languages, multilingual 24 x 7 operator service in 5 languages, personal speed dials, 24 x 7 fraud monitoring, customized routing and flexible billing options. Businesses can also brand the card in their own name.

Building on the company's global service capabilities, the new corporate calling card service adds to Teleglobe's sizeable portfolio of corporate telecommunications services, among which are domestic and international voice services, Internet access, domestic and international private lines, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) services, international toll-free services and prepaid calling cards.

Teleglobe recently announced that it would invest US$5 billion over the next five years to build GlobeSystem, the world's first globally-integrated Internet, voice, data and video network. GlobeSystem will increase Teleglobe's currently installed network capacity by an estimated 200-fold.
