Excel Communications Launches Excel Wireless Phone Service; Telecom Leader Combines Powerful Distribution Channel With Competitive Wireless Product Offering - Company Business and Marketing

To further meet customer demands and provide Excel Representatives the opportunity to participate in the phenomenal growth of the U.S. wireless market, Excel Communications, Inc. announced the launch of Excel Wireless Services. Beginning immediately, Excel Wireless products and services are available in seven introductory markets through Excel's network of independent representatives.

Following its success in the long distance industry, Excel will apply the power of its direct selling channel to become a key player in the U.S. wireless sector. This market represents the fastest-growing segment of the telecommunications industry with $38 billion in annual sales and a 20 percent annual sales growth rate.

Initially, Excel Wireless services are available to customers in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Boston, Sacramento, Raleigh, Memphis and Portland, OR metropolitan areas. Nationwide expansion of this launch is planned for later this year.

"This wireless offering complements our existing line of telecommunications products and expands our bundling strategy," said Christina Gold, vice chairman and CEO of Excel. "As a result, we are increasing the number of commissionable opportunities for our representatives while enhancing the Excel business opportunity. The existing relationships our representatives have with our customer base are the key to our success in the wireless segment. We know our customers well and wireless services are something that they want and have been asking for from Excel."

Product and Service Information Five different Excel Nation Rate Plans have been developed and start at $35 per month for 225 anytime minutes and all of these plans include free domestic long distance service. In addition, free features including voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and 3-way calling are packaged with the monthly plans. Excel will offer customers state-of-the-art digital phones from Nokia and Samsung.

Excel Wireless network services are provided on the Sprint PCS Nationwide wireless network. Under Excel's arrangement with Sprint PCS, Excel customers have access to PCS service anywhere on the Sprint PCS Nationwide Network, serving more than 300 major metropolitan areas. Through this arrangement, Excel has developed a comprehensive offering of state-of-the-art services at very competitive rates.
