Agilent Technologies Enters Worldwide License and Support Agreement With Motorola to Supply Communications Design Software - Company Business and Marketing

Cambridge Telcom Report, April 24, 2000

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) announced Tuesday a global license and support agreement with Motorola to supply software tools, training and technical support for the design of Motorola's next-generation communications PC boards, ICs and systems worldwide. Under the agreement, all Motorola designers worldwide will have broad access to Agilent's full line of EDA simulation tools. This agreement continues Agilent's role as Motorola's primary supplier of electronic design automation (EDA) tools for high-frequency communications design and analysis.

Motorola will use the Agilent EEsof EDA line of communication design products to shorten design time and improve performance of its complex electronic systems. The agreement, driven by Motorola's need to support a worldwide design organization with common tools, includes use of Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS), Series IV, Microwave Design System (MDS), IC-CAP and High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).

"Our company relies on global partners who can support our needs on a worldwide basis," said Dan Russel, director of engineering for Motorola. "Agilent EEsof has worked closely with us to understand our drive to reduce time-to-market in next-generation communication products. This agreement allows our engineers to have access to a common set of world-class communication design tools and services."

"Agilent and Motorola have enjoyed a long-standing relationship that started over 10 years ago with the introduction of the Microwave Design System," said Jim McGillivary, general manager for Agilent EEsof EDA. "This agreement takes our relationship to the next level and allows us to work together to expand and refine the Advanced Design System to meet Motorola's communications design needs."
