DSET Corporation. leading supplier of business-to-business e-commerce solutions for the telecom industry, announced Tuesday that Lucent Technologies will integrate DSET's Local Service Management System (LSMS) with the Lucent Enhanced Services Manager (eSM), a software product that provides carriers with support for intelligent networks and enhanced services. The DSET LSMS helps customers in the United States and Canada to keep their local telephone numbers when they switch their phone service to another carrier.

"The addition of a customized version of DSET's LSMS to our eSM product will provide Lucent's customers with a one-source solution for implementing comprehensive, enhanced services capabilities," said Lucent product manager Jim Hudmon. "In addition to local number portability, Lucent's Enhanced Services Manager will support a variety of services across the wireline, wireless, and IP/Data markets."
"Lucent recognized that integrating our number-portability solution was a perfect fit for their service management capabilities," commented Paul Smith, DSET's senior vice president of strategic planning and product management. "Making use of an existing DSET product that's widely recognized for its capabilities enabled Lucent to realize significant economic and time-to-market benefits. Already deployed by many carriers, our LSMS will now facilitate operations for a wide range of telecom providers through our partnership with Lucent."
