Global Crossing Selects Lucent's Kenan Systems Billing Software To Support Worldwide Growth - Arbor/BP - Company Business and Marketing

Cambridge Telcom Report, Feb 21, 2000

Lucent Technologies' Kenan Systems Monday announced that Global Crossing, which is building and operating the world's most advanced global IP-based fiber optic network, has selected Kenan's Arbor/BP software platform. Global Crossing will use the Arbor/BP product to bill for its international data, voice and Internet services for its multi-national retail customers and other carrier customers. The implementation of the software will occur simultaneously in the United States and Europe.

Kenan Systems' 14 offices on six continents will support Global Crossing's plans to own and operate the first global IP network with more than 97,000 ultra-high bandwidth fiber miles connecting 200 major cities in 24 countries. The Arbor/BP product has been designed to support the multi-currency, multi- language, and multi-byte requirements that companies worldwide require to operate efficiently. Global Crossing will take advantage of this functionality to provide services that meet the needs of its expanding customer base.

"In the competitive world of telecommunications, Global Crossing puts a very high value on customer care and the quality of its services," said David Lee, president and chief operating officer of Global Crossing. "The Kenan Systems product line will enable us to rapidly bring to market advanced telecom services with every confidence in their reliability and excellence."

Arbor/BP will enable Global Crossing to provide its customers the convenience and ease of recording multiple services on a single bill. The design and efficiency of the software will help Global Crossing rapidly introduce innovative voice, data, and video services, including international private line and voice over IP, to the marketplace.

"It is a great privilege for us to be a part of Global Crossing's immense success and very exciting vision," said Kenan Sahin, president of Kenan Systems and vice president of software technology, Bell Labs. "The scalability and flexibility of the Arbor/BP software will help support Global Crossing as it continues its plan for aggressive growth, and our strength in the IP network and internet technology areas will further enhance the capabilities of the company."
