Telex Announces World's Smallest and Lightest Wireless Headsets for Telephone and PC Users - Telex Communications T-900 and T-1900 - Product Announcement

Cambridge Telcom Report, Jan 10, 2000

Minneapolis-based Telex Communications, Inc. Thursday announced that its Computer Audio Products group has developed and launched the world's smallest and lightest wireless telephone headsets. The new wireless headsets are targeted at telephone and computer users who need hands-free, cordless communications.

Telex's new T-900 Wireless Telephone Headset offers a full-featured, wireless solution for users of telephone headsets in small or home offices. For users of telephone headsets, this wireless headset eliminates messy often restricting cords. The Telex T-900 includes acoustic noise cancellation microphone technology to eliminate background noise for clear, consistent audio input. The T-900 is a full-featured telephone headset with professional features and is compatible with most home and business telephones. The product provides comfortable, cordless communications with up to 8 feet of range without the line-of site restrictions of infrared technology or the belt packs or heavy batteries associated with radio frequency systems. The T-900 can be used next to computer systems or other electronic devices without interference.

The new T-1900 Wireless PC/Telephone Headset supports both telephone and PC communications with a single headset. For users of both telephone and PC headsets, the Telex T-1900 eliminates the need for wires or multiple headsets. With all the functionality of the T-900, the T-1900 gives users the added capability of toggling between their telephone and their PC with the touch of a button. This is valuable for users who spend time on the telephone and also use PC applications like voice recognition. And, like the T-900, this headset features magnetic induction technology for a clear signal at a distance of up to 8 feet.

Both the Telex T-1900 and the Telex T-900 feature magnetic induction technology. This innovative technology has enabled Telex to develop the world's smallest and lightest full-duplex, wireless headsets for PC and telephony users. The headsets weigh just 2.1 ounces. The company also credits the use of magnetic induction technology for the affordable prices of its wireless products.

"Our new wireless headsets for telephones and PCs are perfect for SOHO (small office/home office) users. These products provide comfortable, wireless communications for users in these environments," said Tyler Norenberg, Telex's Director of Market Development for Computer Audio Products. "The Telex T-1900 can also be used for PC voice applications for users who not only spend time on the phone but also use PC connectivity applications."

These and other Telex computer audio products are available to end users directly from Telex via the company's web site: http://www.computeraudio.telex.com . All of Telex's computer audio products are available to resellers and VARs through Ingram Micro.

Telex Communications, Inc. has been an audio innovator for more than 60 years. Telex is the performance and technology brand in computer microphones and headsets. The company developed the first specialized microphones for PC voice applications and has since been first to market with other key technologies, such as USB and far-field microphones. With headquarters in Minneapolis, Minn., Telex employs approximately 3,000 people in 37 locations worldwide. Telex is a private company and is majority owned by Greenwich Street Capital -- a unit of CitiGroup.
