Motorola's Internet and Networking Group, the leader in Smart Access Solutions, Monday announced the Vanguard Instant Access 2130, an intelligent SDSL router for small to medium sized businesses (SMBs) and the CLECs, RBOCs and telcos that supply the market. This latest announcement from Motorola enables SMBs to take advantage of a cost-effective, high-bandwidth alternative to T1 lines that are often too expensive for the average small business owner.
Service Providers targeting the growing SMB market can dramatically reduce costs and more effectively manage services with Motorola's Vanguard Instant Access solutions. Specifically, the new Vanguard IA 2130 features Activator, an auto-sensing service management software that enables service providers to remotely automate, activate, and manage large scale SDSL router installations for a fraction of the effort and cost of current xDSL routers.

"SMBs have internetworking needs similar to those of large corporations, but often do not have the technical resources or expertise to install and manage xDSL networks," said Craig DeMunbrun, vice president of Motorola's small and medium business unit within the Multiservice Networks Division.

SMBs can fell confident that the Vanguard IA 2130 will dovetail directly into their existing network - the product provides seamless back office integration.
This is the second product in Motorola's family of plug-and-play access devices developed especially for the growing SMB market. According to a Yankee Group research, 54% of SMBs believe "Internet Access" is the most important technology in achieving their company goals. By providing simple, affordable access solutions, Motorola aims to help SMBs, through service providers, achieve their goals.
Product Features The Vanguard IA 2130 comes complete with a single Ethernet 10/100Base-T autosensing interface, full IP protocol support, network address translation (NAT) and integrated DHCP server for easy PC client configuration. Stac and FRF.9 compression maximizes throughput over PPP and Frame Relay services.
Other features include advanced bandwidth management and Motorola's Embedded Web Server that provides easy views of the router's performance and access to reporting features. With a few clicks in a Web browser, users or service providers can complete installation, configure parameters and set passwords with out loading additional software or resorting to Command Line Interface scripts. The Embedded Web Server also automatically generates system alerts and warnings, which are then sent directly to user or the service provider.
