AT&T Broadband Names Two Executives to Key Posts; Teresa Elder and Jim Mazur to be Presidents for West and East - Company Operations

Cambridge Telcom Report, March 20, 2000

Teresa Elder will become president, Broadband Operations - West, and Jim Mazur will become president, Broadband Operations - East, the company said Monday. Both will report to Dan Somers, president and CEO of AT&T Broadband.

The move is designed to focus management expertise and energy on AT&T Broadband's largest markets, and to bring operational management as close as possible to customers.

Elder, currently senior vice president of the Western Region for MediaOne, will remain in Los Angeles, and her appointment is pending completion of the MediaOne merger into AT&T. Mazur, currently regional vice president for AT&T Broadband's Three Rivers Region, will stay in Pittsburgh.

"Jim and Teresa have been successful at driving the kind of operational excellence that will be critical to our success," Somers said. "They have earned the respect and support of employees, peers, customers, and many of our external constituencies. On our leadership team, they'll bring together the best practices from AT&T Broadband and MediaOne. I'm thrilled to have these high-caliber leaders in such crucial roles."

Somers said the new organization structure will bring more focus to AT&T Broadband's largest markets, while increasing the impact of scale economics on the company's efforts to further enhance functions such as customer care and service, marketing, and product deployment.

At the close of the MediaOne-AT&T Broadband merger, the field reporting structure will be as follows:

-- AT&T Broadband Presidents John Kopchik, Bay Area Division; Scott Hiigel, Central Division; Trey Smith, Northwest Division; and the MediaOne Western Region will report to Elder.

-- AT&T Broadband Presidents Charlie Bartolotta, Atlantic Division; Steve Bryan, Great Lakes Division; and MediaOne Northeast, Atlanta, Midwest, and National Markets Group Regions will report to Jim Mazur.

AT&T Broadband, a business unit of AT&T, is one of the nation's largest broadband services companies, providing television entertainment services to more than 11 million customers across the nation. The company also provides advanced services, such as AT&T Digital Cable; AT&T@Home, a high-speed cable Internet service; and competitive local and long-distance phone service. AT&T Corp. (NYSE: T) is the world's leader in telecommunications services and technology.
